Description

You have had the misfortune of finding some precious cigars in a condition that would make even the newest cigar smoker cringe... Dry, delicate, and ready to turn to dust!

Don't worry, we have a very simple way for you to recover them without causing any further damage. Now please keep in mind that they most likely will never be the same as those that were stored properly since the first day they were rolled, but we can definitely make them smoke-able, and who knows, perhaps you'll encounter a genuine surprise to the palette.

The most important aspect of restoring the moisture content of your dried out cigars, is to do it slowly. Rapid humidification will cause the cigar to expand unevenly due to the hygroscopic nature of tobacco and cause the wrapper (outside leaf of the cigar) to burst, split, flake, etc. It may also cause the foot (the end you normally light) to crack or split. Take your time and be patient during this process and you will achieve a better result...

To use the "Dry Cigar Recovery Kit", gently remove the cigars from any packaging they are contained in and put the cigars into a large enough reclosable bag to hold the cigars and Boveda packs. The Boveda packs can come in direct contact with the cigars. If the cigars are individually wrapped in cellophane, leave the cellophane on to protect them and double the amount of time for each step. You can also put a calibrated hygrometer in the package, to assist with monitoring the progress.

Procedure:

  1. Place cigars and the 58% Boveda pack/s into a new, reclosable plastic bag
  2. Seal the bag and store package in a cool, dark place for 5-10 days or until the Boveda pack becomes hard
  3. Replace the 58% pack/s with the 65% pack/s
  4. Reseal the bag and store package in a cool, dark place for 5-10 days or until the Boveda pack becomes hard
  5. Replace the 65% pack/s with the 72% pack/s
  6. Seal the bag and store package in a cool, dark place for 7 days
  7. You can now store the recovered cigars in your seasoned humidor or other humidified environment
